Structural Project Engineer
A respected architectural and engineering practice in Los Angeles is looking for a Structural Project Engineer to join a collaborative team focused on purposeful, design driven buildings. This group partners closely with architects, planners, and clients to deliver projects across healthcare, education, science and tech, corporate, arts, and community markets. What You Will Do
- Lead structural design on a variety of building projects
- Work directly with architects and other engineering disciplines to develop coordinated solutions
- Plan and assign engineering tasks, mentor team members, and support overall team development
- Oversee workplans for structural staff and help develop scopes and fees for new proposals
- Keep the Project Manager updated on progress, schedule adjustments, and changes in scope
- Perform analysis, calculations, detailing, and design for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures
- Produce and oversee structural drawings and construction documents
- Serve as the primary structural contact during construction, attend meetings, review submittals, respond to RFIs, and conduct site visits
- Collaborate with structural engineers in other locations within the firm through virtual teaming and knowledge sharing
- Participate actively in construction administration and site observations
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in structural engineering; Master's degree preferred
- Eight to ten years of experience designing building structures across steel, concrete, masonry, and wood
- Licensed PE and licensed SE in California
- Strong knowledge of CBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, AISC, ACI, NDS, and related standards
- Proficiency with tools such as ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, RISA, Enercalc, or similar software
- Strong planning, organization, and ability to work well in a fast paced setting
- Self driven, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative
- Able to collaborate with architects, consultants, and clients to produce integrated work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort leading meetings
- Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, budgets, and deliverables at once
- Interest in producing thoughtful, durable, high quality structural design
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities and adapt to different leadership styles
