About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Substation Engineer to join a leading Power Delivery team in the Northeast region. This role will focus on the design and development of high-voltage substations supporting transmission and distribution projects for utilities and renewable energy clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute substation physical and electrical design for projects ranging from 69 kV to 500 kV.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for substation layouts, grounding, lightning protection, and control systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with IEEE, NESC, and client standards.
  • Perform short-circuit, load flow, and protection coordination studies using industry-standard software.
  • Review vendor drawings and provide technical guidance during procurement and construction phases.
  • Support remote and on-site commissioning activities as needed.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to quality assurance processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in substation engineering and design
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license highly required; EIT considered with strong experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and power system analysis tools (ETAP, ASPEN, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of protection and control systems, grounding, and utility standards
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
