About the Company:

Our client's Building and Construction division is renowned for its innovative product and project solutions across multiple architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines. Their project-related assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting services are essential for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of new developments, existing assets, and facilities. The Building Science Solutions (BSS) group focuses on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for both new construction and retrofit projects.

Role Overview:

The Building Enclosure Department Manager will oversee technical work, financial performance, and business growth within the department. With regional team members in various locations, the manager will be based in a specific city and will travel up to 25% of the time as business needs dictate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce safety and compliance requirements and company policies
  • Manage Building Science Solutions projects within assigned regions
  • Supervise direct reports within the operating unit
  • Collaborate with the Building Science Business Development Manager to expand the business in the market
  • Lead regional business development, marketing, and sales efforts
  • Provide building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and design and construction administrative services for new building projects
  • Conduct building enclosure investigations and assessments for existing buildings, including remedial repair designs and construction administrative services
  • Assist in achieving profit center financial goals
  • Prepare professionally written deliverables, including proposals, technical reports, and design reviews
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring
  • Support hiring and training new building sciences team members, and mentor existing team members
  • Grow the local BSS office by balancing staff workloads and securing new work to ensure adequate staff utilization
  • Participate in professional organizations, author papers, attend conferences, and contribute to technical committees

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Architectural Engineering with 7+ years of building enclosure industry experience OR 10+ years of experience in Building Enclosure consulting/industry in lieu of the degree
  • Technical understanding of building enclosure systems and construction
  • Experience in managing, leading, and developing staff, both technical and administrative
  • Experience in managing operating unit P&L's
  • Experience in managing a range of small to large projects
  • Ability to perform work from ladders, boom-lifts, scaffolds, swing stages, roofs, etc.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to meet changing and strict deadlines
  • Professional interaction and communication with clients and project teams
  • Ability to travel up to 25% outside the local area, depending on project locations
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional registration or ability to obtain registration within one year
