Geotechnical Manager - Build & Lead a Growing Division
Location: New Jersey (with flexibility to work from either NJ or NY office)
Salary: $130,000-$160,000+ (commensurate with experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Bonus: Annual bonus + overtime at straight-time rate

We are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Geotechnical Manager to lead and expand a growing geotechnical division within a well-established and financially secure engineering firm. With a strong backlog of projects and a reputation for quality, this is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a department and shape its future.
This role is ideal for a motivated geotechnical engineer ready to step into a leadership position, build a team, and play a key role in business development and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the geotechnical engineering team (initially 2-3 staff, with plans to expand).
- Oversee technical delivery of geotechnical services across a diverse project portfolio.
- Act as the primary point of contact for geotechnical clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support business development efforts and represent the firm in industry engagements.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
- Collaborate with leadership to integrate geotechnical services into broader business strategy.
What We're Looking For
- 8-10 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- PE license (required, especially for NY market).
- Strong technical background and project management skills.
- Experience working directly with clients and managing teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build and grow a department.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
