A nationally recognized engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Dallas office, contributing to the delivery of high-impact building projects across Texas and beyond. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about solving complex structural challenges through innovative design and diagnostics.
Project Scope & Impact
The Dallas team is engaged in a wide range of projects, including:
- New ground-up construction for commercial, healthcare, aviation, and education sectors.
- Adaptive reuse and retrofit of aging structures, including seismic upgrades and strengthening for increased load demands.
- Diagnostics and forensic investigations of distressed buildings, with follow-up design for repair and rehabilitation.
- Specialty structures, such as long-span roofs, high-rise towers, and architecturally expressive forms requiring advanced analysis and detailing.
Projects often involve performance-based design, nonlinear modeling, and multi-material systems, with a strong emphasis on constructability, sustainability, and resilience. Engineers are expected to engage early in concept development and carry designs through to construction administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and analysis efforts across multiple concurrent projects.
- Develop and review construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders including architects, contractors, and owners.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments for both new and existing buildings.
- Guide junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence across the office.
- Support business development through proposal writing, client presentations, and relationship building.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in building structures, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Proficiency in ETABS, RAM, Revit, Tekla, and SAP2000; experience with Bluebeam and AutoCAD is a plus.
- Strong understanding of building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, etc.) and design standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
