Construction Engineering Technician

They are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Engineering Technician to support transportation and water infrastructure projects. This role involves field observation, documentation, and coordination to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with plans and specifications while representing the interests of the project owner.
Responsibilities
- Observe and document construction activities for transportation projects (e.g., roadways, trails) and water system projects (e.g., water mains, plant upgrades)
- Represent the project owner/client in the field
- Verify that construction work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and standards
- Coordinate with internal office staff, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Conduct site visits and field inspections as required
- Maintain accurate and detailed project documentation
- Communicate progress, issues, and updates effectively to project teams
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil construction
- Experience with construction observation for DOTs, Local Public Agencies, or Utility Companies (e.g., IDOT) is a plus
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
