Role Overview
We are seeking a Building Envelope Restoration Estimator to join our team and support the pricing, planning, and pursuit of restoration work across a range of commercial and historic structures. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for projects involving concrete restoration, masonry repair, waterproofing, sealants, specialty coatings, and related building envelope rehabilitation work.
The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing drawings and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, evaluating site conditions, coordinating subcontractor and supplier pricing, and assembling detailed cost proposals for negotiated and competitive bid opportunities. This is a great opportunity for someone who understands the technical side of restoration construction and enjoys the front-end strategy, analysis, and preconstruction work that drives successful projects.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for building envelope restoration projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditions
- Review plans, specifications, reports, and other bid documents to develop a full understanding of project scope and requirements
- Perform quantity take-offs for masonry restoration, concrete repair, waterproofing, joint sealants, specialty coatings, and related restoration scopes
- Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits to assess access, logistics, existing conditions, and potential project risks
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure complete and competitive bid coverage
- Analyze scope gaps, exclusions, and clarifications to help produce well-qualified, commercially sound proposals
- Work closely with operations and leadership teams to align estimating strategy with field execution and company capabilities
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, bid summaries, scope reviews, value engineering options, and final proposals
- Maintain organized bid files, historical pricing data, and estimating records for future reference
- Support handoff of awarded work to project management and operations teams to ensure continuity from preconstruction into execution
- Help identify project opportunities that align with the company's expertise in concrete and masonry restoration, preservation, waterproofing, and specialty coatings.
Education / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent industry experience in estimating, preconstruction, or project management within restoration, waterproofing, masonry, concrete repair, or building envelope contracting will also be considered
- Proven experience preparing estimates for commercial construction or restoration projects
- Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, bid documents, and scope analysis
- Experience with quantity take-offs, conceptual budgeting, subcontractor solicitation, and proposal preparation
- Knowledge of building envelope systems, including masonry façades, concrete repair, sealants, waterproofing, and protective coatings, is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in estimating and take-off software, Microsoft Excel, and general preconstruction documentation
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to visit project sites, assess existing conditions, and support bid development with practical field insight
