Position Overview

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will lead geotechnical analyses, support field programs, and provide design recommendations for major infrastructure projects across Ohio. This hybrid position combines office‑based design with periodic field work and coordination with drilling crews, inspectors, and construction teams. Responsibilities include managing project tasks, preparing technical reports, ensuring quality control, and supporting junior staff development.

You will contribute to the planning and execution of subsurface investigations, slope stability evaluations, foundation recommendations, and geotechnical inspection activities on transportation, municipal, industrial, and structural projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead geotechnical engineering analyses and recommendations for bridges, retaining structures, buildings, dams, and levees.
  • Oversee and support subsurface investigations, drilling operations, laboratory review, and field assessments.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical calculations, engineering reports, and construction documentation.
  • Provide slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, and earth‑retention evaluations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and interact with clients as needed.
  • Mentor junior engineers, technicians, and field staff; review technical work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure QA/QC compliance and adherence to internal safety and project standards.
  • Support proposals, project planning, and departmental initiatives as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 8-10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, including foundation and infrastructure projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Experience with drilling oversight, field investigations, and geotechnical report preparation.
  • Proficient in geotechnical analysis and familiar with design platforms such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Background working with DOT or public‑sector infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and mentoring abilities.
