About the Opportunity

A leading national geotechnical contracting group is expanding its footprint across Florida and is seeking a Geotechnical Sales Pursuit Engineer to drive business development, pursue technically complex geohazard projects, and serve as a key connector between clients and the internal design engineering team.

You'll step into a region with existing national accounts you can tap into, but the true opportunity comes from building and owning your territory.

If you enjoy meeting clients face-to-face, identifying geotechnical challenges, and driving pursuit strategies for high-value geo-hazard projects - this role puts you in the driver's seat.

What You'll Do

Pursuit & Business Development (Primary Focus)

  • Lead pursuit strategy for complex geotechnical and geohazard stabilization projects across Florida.
  • Drive regional growth by identifying new opportunities within DOT, power, transportation, heavy civil, and private infrastructure sectors.
  • Build relationships with owners, engineers, contractors, EPCs, and partners to position the company as the preferred solution provider.
  • Conduct cold outreach, follow-up calls, and proactive BD activities to cultivate a strong pipeline.
  • Represent the company at conferences, project walk-throughs, client presentations, and industry events.

Client-Facing Engineering

  • Serve as the technical liaison between clients and the company's in-house design engineering team.
  • Perform high-level assessments on-site to understand client needs and translate findings into internal design scopes.
  • Coordinate early-stage project scoping, concept recommendations, and feasibility discussions.
  • Ensure projects move smoothly post-award by supporting communication, expectations, and client satisfaction.

Travel & Field Engagement

  • Travel approximately 50% of the time across Florida for client meetings, site visits, and developing opportunities (successful engineers often choose to travel up to 75%).
  • Expect occasional overnight trips; you control your schedule and approach to the market.

What We're Looking For

  • Geotechnical or civil engineering background OR strong BD experience in geotechnical, environmental, construction, or infrastructure markets.
  • Someone who loves client interaction more than sitting at a desk.
  • Existing Florida geotechnical network preferred, but strong pursuit skills matter most.
  • Demonstrated history of stable employment (no job hoppers).
  • Strong communication, follow-through, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to balance engineering understanding with sales-oriented responsibilities.
