Mid Level Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Deliver detailed electrical power system designs for treatment facilities and pumping stations while working independently on most tasks
  • Produce load studies and associated calculations that support equipment sizing, feeder selection, and system configuration
  • Lay out conduit routing, distribution equipment, motor control centers, and switchgear with attention to constructability and accessibility
  • Develop project specifications for electrical equipment, control components, and system integration requirements
  • Perform standard power system analyses that include short circuit availability, voltage drop, harmonic effects, and power factor considerations
  • Support field reviews, including site investigations, construction coordination, and start-up activities
  • Apply NEC, NFPA 820, and NESC requirements throughout the design lifecycle
  • Reference and interpret relevant IEEE publications as part of system analysis and design decisions
  • Prepare clear documentation, calculations, and written communication for both internal team use and client presentations
  • Participate in client interactions and contribute to discussions on design intent, technical decisions, and project progression
  • Maintain strong coordination with mechanical, process, I and C, and civil teams to ensure alignment across disciplines

Minimum Qualifications

  • Six to twelve years of electrical engineering experience in power system design
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of short circuit, voltage drop, harmonic distortion, and power factor analysis
  • Solid understanding of NEC requirements, NFPA 820 guidance, and NESC rules
  • Familiarity with the IEEE color book series and related industry references
  • Proficient with Word and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and design teams
  • Highly self-motivated, organized, and able to manage tasks with limited supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous project experience specific to water or wastewater treatment facilities
  • Exposure to electrical construction, commissioning, or troubleshooting in the field
