Senior Environmental Engineer (Remediation)

Location: Portland, OR (4 days/week in office)
Compensation: $150,000 - $200,000 base salary

Overview

A growing environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to serve as a key leader within its Oregon operations. This individual will act as the face of the remediation team in Oregon, leading project delivery, managing staff, and partnering with clients across a diverse portfolio of environmental remediation work throughout the state.

This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to lead large-scale remediation programs, mentor high-performing teams, and influence the continued growth of the firm's presence across the Pacific Northwest.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Project Oversight

  • Provide senior-level technical leadership across environmental remediation projects
  • Review, guide, and approve technical deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee project execution from planning through completion, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget
  • Support complex remediation strategies, including site investigation, risk evaluation, and remedial design

Team Management & Development

  • Lead, manage, and mentor teams of 10+ environmental professionals across multiple projects
  • Provide training, coaching, and career development to junior and mid-level staff
  • Supervise day-to-day project assignments and ensure high performance across teams
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment

Client & Market Leadership

  • Serve as a primary representative of the firm's remediation practice in Oregon
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, and project stakeholders
  • Support ongoing client development efforts and help expand existing relationships
  • Collaborate with leadership on regional growth initiatives

Project & Financial Management

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery within budget and timeline constraints
  • Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and execution strategies
  • Support proposal development, cost estimating, and client deliverables
  • Monitor project performance, billing, and overall profitability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Oregon required
  • Proven experience leading environmental remediation projects and teams
  • Strong background in contaminated site investigation, remediation, and regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to provide senior technical review and sign-off on deliverables
  • Experience mentoring and developing technical staff in a consulting environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface with clients, regulators, and internal teams
