Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable Environmental Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with 6+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting and managing environmental remediation projects, primarily in New York State. The ideal candidate started their career in the field, sampling soil, groundwater, and soil vapor and has steadily worked their way up to full project management responsibilities.
This role will oversee complex site investigation, remediation, and redevelopment efforts, with a strong emphasis on brownfield redevelopment under NYSDEC programs. The candidate should bring both technical depth and strong organizational, and leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead and manage investigation and remediation projects in accordance with NYSDEC DER-10, Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Oversee day‑to‑day project execution, from planning through field implementation and reporting.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and work plans; ensure project delivery is on time and within budget.
- Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining relationships, providing updates, and identifying new opportunities.
Technical Execution
- Direct and QA/QC technicaldeliverables including:
- Remedial Investigation Work Plans & Reports
- Remedial Action Work Plans (RAWPs)
- Feasibility studies
- Environmental assessment reports
- Construction oversight documentation
- Lead multidisciplinary teams performing soil, groundwater, and soil vapor investigations.
- Provide senior-level technical input into data evaluation, conceptual site models, and remedial decision‑making.
- Oversee contractor management during drilling, excavation, injection, and remedial system installation activities.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Support and mentor junior and mid‑level staff, providing guidance on fieldwork, data analysis, report writing, and professional development.
- Coordinate with internal technical leads, field personnel, project accountants, and senior leadership.
Office & Travel Requirements
- Expected to work primarily out of the Bohemia, NY office.
- If based closer to Kearny, NJ, the employee may report there but must be available for regular in‑person visits to Bohemia (such as weekly or biweekly depending on project needs).
- Occasional site visits across NY and NJ required.
Qualifications
Required
- 6+ years of environmental consulting experience with a strong focus on New York remediation projects.
- Demonstrated progression from field technician / staff-level sampler to full project management.
- Hands‑on experience with soil, groundwater, and soil vapor sampling.
- Strong working knowledge of New York environmental regulatory frameworks (e.g., NYSDEC BCP, DER-10).
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience leading or implementing brownfield redevelopment under NYSDEC BCP.
- Experience managing subcontractors and construction oversight.
