Senior Project Manager/Principal

Overview
As a Civil Engineering Senior Project Manager/Principal, you will manage project teams to create land development plans for commercial, institutional, public, industrial, and energy clients. This role involves overseeing a variety of project types, including retail, residential, higher education, health care, industrial capital improvements, renewable energy, and public-sector improvements such as roadway or utility rehabilitation. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing engineering plans for entitlement and construction, working with regulatory agencies to gain project approvals, developing strong business relationships, and meeting client objectives.

You'll participate in all aspects of the consulting engineering process: managing projects, reviewing work products, performing quality control, interfacing with clients, developing proposals, budgeting, and mentoring junior engineers. Your oversight of junior staff will include review of key civil plan components such as site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management facilities, water quality best management practices, erosion and sediment control, and utilities. You'll also have opportunities to expand your knowledge through professional development, networking, and client development events.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in the land development sector
  • BS/MS in Civil Engineering
  • Professional registration or ability to obtain licensure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience preparing final engineering plans and specifications
  • Experience writing engineering studies and preparing calculations
  • Experience preparing stormwater models and associated reports
  • Experience preparing permit applications and obtaining project approvals
  • Experience participating in public meetings (e.g., City Council or stakeholder sessions)
  • Ability to mentor and develop staff
  • Ability to prepare proposals and manage project execution
  • Ability to interface with clients, network, and support business development
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Excel, Word, HEC-RAS, and other modeling software a plus
  • Existing local relationships with developers, architects, energy clients, or others in the land development industry a plus
