Surveyor
Location: Riverside, CA or Los Angeles, CA
An established and growing firm is seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead its Surveying and Mapping Department in Southern California. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing technical surveying operations, managing staff and projects, and supporting business development efforts. This candidate will bring a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership capability, and client-facing experience across a diverse range of projects, from small site developments to large-scale master-planned communities.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the Surveying and Mapping Department, serving in responsible charge
- Manage and mentor survey staff, fostering professional growth and team performance
- Oversee project execution, including boundary surveys, topographic mapping, construction staking, and data analysis
- Ensure accuracy, quality control, and compliance with applicable regulations and standards
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Support and drive business development efforts, including client relationship management and proposal development
- Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
- Minimum of 10 years of land surveying experience, with a strong focus on boundary, topographic, and construction surveying in Southern California
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or management role
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Expert knowledge of the California Subdivision Map Act
- Proficiency with modern surveying technology and software
- Strong leadership, organizational, and mentoring abilities
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in complex boundary analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to clients and regulatory agencies
