Air Permitting Engineer
Air Quality Technical Specialist:
Overview:
This role supports a range of air permitting and compliance work. The ideal candidate is an experienced Air Quality professional who can step in with minimal ramp-up and confidently manage permitting efforts from straightforward applications through more complex Title V work.
You'll be joining a fast-growing environmental consulting firm that has built its reputation through referrals, reflecting strong client relationships and high-quality, hands-on technical work. The team operates in a collaborative, low-turnover environment that avoids the typical consulting "grind," offering diverse project exposure, real ownership of work, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact as the company continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit air permit applications, including construction and Title V permits
- Perform emissions calculations, applicability analyses, and permitting exemption determinations
- Prepare routine compliance reports such as annual emissions statements and monitoring reports
- Execute air permitting work independently from start to finish
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, clients, subcontractors, and internal team members
- Manage multiple projects while adhering to schedules, budgets, and quality standards
Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related scientific discipline
- 5-10 years of experience in environmental consulting with a focus on air permitting
- Demonstrated hands-on experience preparing air permit applications, including Title V (not just supporting or reviewing work)
- Experience with construction permitting and air compliance programs
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight in a "plug-and-play" capacity
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain client relationships
