About the Role
A leading engineering firm specializing in hyperscale data centers and mission-critical infrastructure is seeking an Associate Director of Electrical Engineering to join its senior leadership team. This fully remote role is ideal for a seasoned electrical engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical excellence, team development, and operational strategy.
As a key leader within the design organization, you'll drive staffing strategy, oversee partner relationships (onshore and offshore), and lead onboarding and development initiatives that scale productivity across the electrical discipline. You'll also serve as a technical authority, guiding design execution and mentoring engineers across multiple high-impact programs.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership (≈50%)
- Lead and contribute to conceptual and schematic electrical designs for complex projects.
- Perform and oversee advanced electrical engineering calculations and QA/QC reviews.
- Serve as Engineer of Record (EoR) on select projects and programs.
- Mentor and train electrical engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Support standards development and technical training across the electrical team.
Organizational Strategy & Process Improvement (≈25%)
- Own strategic planning and hiring for the electrical discipline.
- Build and manage scalable systems for staffing, onboarding, and partner engagement.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to shape policies and drive operational excellence.
- Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and performance tracking for the electrical team.
Management & Team Development (≈25%)
- Provide coaching and career development support to team members.
- Lead strategic initiatives and cross-functional collaboration efforts.
- Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and service leadership.
- Ensure alignment between departmental goals and broader organizational strategy.
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with advanced expertise in electrical systems design.
- Proven leadership experience in engineering operations, team management, and strategic planning.
- Strong command of AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office tools.
- Skilled in electrical calculations, code compliance, and design documentation.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
- Experience working in a remote environment with distributed teams.
- Familiarity with hyperscale data center projects or other mission-critical environments is a strong plus.
