About the Role

A leading consulting firm is seeking an experienced Botanist Project Manager to work on delivering a diverse range of ecological, conservation, and land management projects. This position is ideal for a botanist, plant ecologist, or environmental professional who enjoys balancing hands-on fieldwork with project leadership, technical reporting, and client engagement.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will lead botanical and habitat-focused projects from initial scoping through to delivery, providing technical expertise while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high professional standard. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage botanical and ecological projects from proposal stage through to completion.
  • Lead vegetation surveys, habitat assessments, rare plant investigations, and field data collection programs.
  • Prepare, review, and quality-check technical reports, ecological assessments, and environmental documentation.
  • Support environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder consultation processes.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and project partners.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, providing guidance on field methodologies and reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with specialists across ecology, environmental planning, restoration, and natural resource management disciplines.
  • Contribute to habitat restoration, biodiversity enhancement, conservation planning, and sustainable development projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Botany, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of plant identification, vegetation communities, and ecological survey techniques.
  • Previous project management experience within environmental consultancy or a related sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent technical report writing, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to scientific excellence.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Habitat mapping and vegetation classification.
  • Ecological impact assessments and environmental planning.
  • Environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • Wetland assessment and delineation.
  • GIS, GPS, and spatial data management.
  • Habitat restoration, revegetation, and biodiversity monitoring.
  • Experience working with public sector, infrastructure, development, or conservation-based projects.
