The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Botanist / Wetland Ecologist / Permitting Manager to join a highly regarded ecological consulting team in the Bay Area. This is a leadership-level opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to play a key role in delivering complex projects across habitat restoration, regulatory permitting, and conservation planning.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage ecological and permitting projects from proposal through delivery
- Oversee wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and ecological field surveys
- Prepare and review technical reports, biological resource assessments, and mitigation plans
- Manage regulatory permitting processes with agencies (e.g., USACE, CDFW, RWQCB)
- Act as a key client contact, ensuring high-quality project delivery and communication
- Coordinate with internal teams including restoration ecologists, wildlife biologists, and planners
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and junior staff
- Support business development and proposal preparation
Technical Focus Areas
- Wetland delineation and jurisdictional assessments
- Rare plant surveys and vegetation mapping
- Habitat restoration and conservation planning
- CEQA / NEPA environmental review
- Regulatory permitting and agency coordination
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Botany, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
- Strong background in California flora, plant ecology, and wetland systems
- Experience with regulatory permitting and environmental compliance (CEQA/NEPA)
- Demonstrated experience conducting wetland delineations and habitat assessments
- Prior project management or leadership experience within a consulting environment
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
