Bridge Engineer

A well‑established, multi‑disciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Senior Structural Project Engineer to serve as a technical lead on complex transportation structure projects across the central U.S. region. This role is ideal for an experienced bridge engineer who enjoys technical ownership, mentoring junior staff, and delivering high‑quality solutions for state DOT and municipal clients.

The position may be based in Denver, CO, with flexibility for hybrid or remote work for candidates located in approved U.S. locations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and analysis of bridge and transportation structures, ensuring technical excellence, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Perform and oversee complex structural analyses using industry‑standard tools (e.g., OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge Concrete, AASHTOWare BrR, MicroStation, or comparable software)
  • Develop and review design drawings, calculations, and construction documents, maintaining rigorous QA/QC standards
  • Provide technical leadership within multidisciplinary project teams, supporting projects from concept through final design and construction support
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and public agencies to support schedules, budgets, and project delivery goals
  • Serve as a go‑to technical resource for resolving design challenges and advancing efficient, practical solutions
  • Participate in client coordination and communication, contributing to long‑term relationships and high client satisfaction
  • Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and designers

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in civil/structural engineering with a strong emphasis on bridge and transportation structures
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Colorado preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe)
  • Strong working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, state DOT design manuals, and transportation industry standards
  • Demonstrated experience leading or reviewing QA/QC for complex structural designs
  • Experience working with state DOTs, municipalities, and county agencies
  • Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills

Preferred Experience

  • Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Experience with new and rehabilitated bridges, retaining walls, culverts, noise walls, and related transportation structures
  • Exposure to alternative delivery methods such as design‑build or CM/GC
  • Experience supporting or leading contractor and agency coordination during design and construction phases
