My client, a well-established Architecture, Engineering, and Construction firm, is seeking a Bridge Project Engineer to join their Civil Engineering team. The firm is headquartered in downtown Chicago and is proud to be 100% employee-owned, with a strong focus on sustainability and innovative project solutions.

Position Overview

As a Bridge Project Engineer, you will work on a variety of transportation structure projects, including new designs and rehabilitation of existing structures. You'll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to create technically sound solutions that meet project requirements and applicable codes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design transportation structures such as highway bridges, retaining walls, and box culverts.
  • Prepare structural analysis and design calculations using applicable codes and software.
  • Develop technical reports, contract plans, specifications, cost estimates, and perform on-site inspections.
  • Assist with construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings and RFIs.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff in technical and project development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis); Master's preferred.
  • Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) or actively pursuing licensure within 2 years.
  • 5+ years of consulting engineering experience with bridge design and inspection expertise.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, structural analysis, and finite element software.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and client-facing skills.
  • Familiarity with Illinois DOT standards and specifications preferred.

  • Salary range: $100,000 - $150,000 annually, plus discretionary annual bonuses.
