Chicago | Transportation Resident Engineer
A well-established infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Transportation Resident Engineer to oversee roadway and transportation construction projects throughout the Chicagoland area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organization with a strong backlog of transportation work and play a key leadership role in delivering high-profile infrastructure improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily roadway rehabilitation and transportation construction activities
- Ensure projects are completed in accordance with plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets
- Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Proactively identify and resolve construction-related issues
- Manage and mentor a team of field inspectors
- Oversee project documentation, reporting, and compliance requirements
- Coordinate closely with owners, contractors, and project teams to keep projects moving efficiently
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 5+ years of transportation and/or construction management experience
- Experience serving as a licensed Resident Engineer on roadway construction projects
- Proven ability to lead project teams and field personnel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization and documentation abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Master's degree or other advanced education
- Construction Manager (CM) certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience managing projects for the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT)
