Compensation: $150,000 - $185,000+ DOE
About the Opportunity
A growing, multidisciplinary design and engineering consultancy is seeking a Civil Market Leader to lead and expand its land development practice in the Northeast.
This is a leadership role for someone who wants to build and scale a team, drive business growth, and take ownership of client relationships within a well-established but expanding platform. The firm offers strong backing in terms of resources, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and project pipeline.
The position blends operational leadership, business development, and project oversight, with a clear remit to grow market presence and revenue in the region.
The Role
The Civil Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a civil engineering group, overseeing project delivery, and driving profitable growth across land development projects.
You will act as both a strategic leader and a hands-on contributor - supporting key projects while developing client relationships and mentoring internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the growth and performance of the civil engineering team in the region.
- Take ownership of revenue targets, profitability, and operational performance.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships across the private and public sectors.
- Prepare proposals, scopes, and contracts for new and existing projects.
- Oversee project delivery, budgets, and timelines.
- Review financial performance, project forecasts, and internal reporting.
- Support and drive business development activity, including networking and client meetings.
- Participate in stakeholder and planning discussions as required.
- Manage team structure, resourcing, and day-to-day operations.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering staff.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence.
- 10+ years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on land development.
- Prior experience at Project Manager or Senior Project Manager level.
- Proven track record of client development and relationship management.
- Leadership experience, including team management or mentoring.
