About the Firm
A privately held Colorado civil engineering and surveying firm that has been serving the Front Range for 50+ years. With roughly 100 people across four offices and steady growth planned over the next few years, the firm delivers land development, transportation, water resources, structural, and survey work for a mix of public and private clients. The culture is stable and technically driven, with long staff tenure and a genuine investment in developing the next layer of leadership.
The Role
The Team Lead runs one of the Land Development teams, typically 2 to 6 engineers and designers. You will own project delivery for your group, develop the people on it, and stay hands on with the technical work. This is a seat for someone ready to lead a team without stepping fully out of design.
Team Leadership
- Set team priorities, deliverables, and submittals in coordination with the Department Head, Group Manager, or Project Manager, and manage workload across the group.
- Direct and review the team's work, own overall technical performance including QA/QC, and keep the team to utilization targets.
- Mentor Project and Design Engineers with real direction, training, and feedback.
- Evaluate staff capabilities and conduct performance reviews.
- Sign and seal drawings prepared under your supervision.
Project Production
- Lead projects, or major portions of them, as Production Lead.
- Review construction plans, cost estimates, calculations, models, and reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage budgets and schedules, spot bottlenecks, and push for better, more efficient processes.
- Handle multiple projects at once with minimal supervision and hit deadlines.
Client and Agency Interaction
- Serve as a point of contact with clients through meetings, calls, and correspondence.
- Build working relationships with city, county, and other regulatory professionals, and stay current on jurisdiction specific requirements.
- Contribute to conceptual and creative project planning for cost effective, practical solutions.
- Support proposal preparation as needed.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
- 5+ years of civil engineering experience focused on land development.
- Colorado PE license preferred.
- Strong technical command of grading, drainage, utilities, and site design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
