A leading heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Equipment Manager to support a major infrastructure project in the Hampton Roads area. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong experience managing equipment on large-scale, complex civil projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee fleet operations, including maintenance, utilization, and procurement of heavy equipment
- Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime
- Coordinate equipment across multiple crews and project areas
- Manage relationships with vendors, mechanics, and service providers
- Track equipment costs, performance, and repairs to ensure efficiency
- Oversee shop personnel and maintenance operations
- Ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in equipment or fleet management within heavy civil construction
- Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure projects (tunnel, bridge, roadway, or marine preferred)
- Strong knowledge of earthmoving and heavy construction equipment
- Experience with maintenance tracking and equipment logistics
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Mechanical background preferred
