Construction/ Resident Engineer | CHICAGO
My client, a nationally recognized consulting firm, is seeking a Construction Engineer to join their Chicago office. Known for delivering high‑quality engineering, planning, and design services for over 60 years, my client prides itself on a culture built around technical excellence, innovation, integrity, and long‑term relationships. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of transportation and site development projects while also supporting construction inspection efforts. Responsibilities
- Serving as Assistant Resident Engineer / Resident Engineer
- Performing construction inspection for IDOT, Tollway, county, or municipal projects
- Assisting with field inspections for roadway and utility construction (sewer systems, asphalt, concrete roadways)
- Performing and reviewing material testing of concrete, asphalt, and aggregates
- Completing daily construction reports (manual or electronic)
- Assisting with design tasks for roadway and site development improvements
- Preparing local, state, and federal permit applications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- EIT certification desired; PE preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction and design of transportation and/or municipal projects
- Experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer
- Highway Technician Certifications preferred
- Experience with MicroStation
