Salary: Up to $170,000 Base Salary

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Department Lead to lead and grow our environmental consulting practice in North New England. This individual will serve as a senior technical and business leader responsible for managing environmental remediation projects, developing client relationships, expanding market presence, mentoring staff, and driving overall department performance throughout New England, with a particular focus on New Hampshire.

This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned environmental professional who enjoys a combination of technical leadership, team management, client engagement, and business development. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping strategy, expanding services, and supporting the continued growth of the environmental division.

New Hampshire Professional Geologist (PG) license is highly desirable but not required.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Lead and manage the Environmental Services Department, including project managers, geologists, environmental scientists, and technical staff.
  • Mentor and develop team members while fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented culture.
  • Provide oversight on project execution, staffing, resource allocation, budgets, and overall department performance.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, and retention efforts as the team continues to grow.

Client Development & Business Growth

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to public and private sector clients throughout New England.
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within environmental consulting, remediation, due diligence, and compliance services.
  • Lead proposal development, scope preparation, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
  • Establish strategic partnerships and expand the firm's presence throughout New Hampshire and neighboring markets.

Technical & Project Leadership

  • Provide senior-level oversight and review for environmental investigation and remediation projects.
  • Manage complex site characterization, remedial investigation, and remedial action programs.
  • Direct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
  • Oversee soil, groundwater, vapor intrusion, PFAS, and hazardous materials investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable NHDES, EPA, and state regulatory requirements.
  • Review technical reports, work plans, risk assessments, and regulatory submittals.
  • Provide technical guidance on remediation technologies and corrective action strategies.

Financial & Operational Management

  • Manage departmental budgets, forecasting, and financial performance.
  • Monitor project profitability, utilization, and key business metrics.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Support strategic planning and long-term growth initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, or related field.
  • 15+ years of environmental consulting experience.
  • Extensive experience managing environmental remediation and site assessment projects throughout New England.
  • Strong knowledge of NHDES regulations and environmental programs.
  • Significant experience with:
    • Phase I and Phase II ESAs
    • Site Investigations (SI)
    • Remedial Investigations (RI)
    • Soil & Groundwater Remediation
    • Vapor Intrusion Assessments
    • Brownfield Redevelopment
    • Risk Assessments
    • Regulatory Negotiations
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client management.
  • Proven experience managing teams and mentoring technical staff.
  • Strong proposal writing, budgeting, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred

  • New Hampshire Professional Geologist (PG) License.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or other relevant environmental licensure.
  • Existing client relationships within New Hampshire and the broader New England region.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary environmental consulting teams.
  • Established reputation within the regional environmental consulting market.
