Environmental Engineer (Landfill Experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Environmental Engineer with hands-on experience in landfill design, permitting, and compliance. This role involves managing landfill development projects, conducting environmental assessments, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee construction of landfill cells, liners, leachate collection systems, and gas management systems.
- Prepare and review permit applications, engineering reports, and regulatory submittals.
- Conduct site assessments, environmental monitoring, and data analysis.
- Ensure compliance with RCRA, Subtitle D, CalRecycle, and local air and water quality regulations.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Support landfill closure and post-closure care planning.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence across projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental, Civil, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in landfill engineering or solid waste management.
- Strong knowledge of landfill design standards, permitting processes, and environmental compliance.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and landfill modeling software (e.g., HELP, SLAMM, GasSim).
- PE license (or ability to obtain within 12 months) preferred.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
