Geologist Project Manager
A well-established environmental consulting and engineering firm is seeking a Geologist Project Manager to lead site assessment and remediation projects in the Sacramento region. This is a high-impact role ideal for a licensed Professional Geologist (PG) with at least 8 years of experience in environmental site investigation, remediation, and project management.
About the Role
As a Project Manager, you'll oversee environmental projects from planning through execution, working with both public and private sector clients. The firm takes a solutions-focused approach to brownfield redevelopment and complex remediation. You'll join a collaborative team that blends engineering, geology, and regulatory strategy to transform underutilized sites into sustainable assets.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all phases of environmental site investigation and remediation projects
Prepare technical reports, work plans, and regulatory submittals in compliance with DTSC, RWQCB, and other relevant agencies
Oversee field work, including soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling; supervise junior staff and subcontractors
Perform data analysis and interpret geologic and hydrogeologic conditions
Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and client communication
Coordinate with stakeholders to support site redevelopment and risk-based closure strategies
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field
8+ years of environmental consulting experience with a focus on site assessment and remediation
California Professional Geologist (PG) license in good standing
Proven track record in project and client management
Strong technical writing and regulatory communication skills
Working knowledge of environmental regulations including CERCLA, RCRA, and California cleanup guidance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on brownfield or redevelopment projects
Familiarity with emerging contaminants such as PFAS
Proficiency with GIS, database tools, and geologic modeling software
40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification (current)
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $95,000 - $135,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
