Geotechnical Lab Manager

An EXPERIENCED CMT (Construction Materials Testing) Laboratory Supervisor is an laboratory supervisor or manager of laboratory and field technicians that should currently hold the appropriate ACI, MARTCP, or equivalent certifications and directs the testing of materials like soil, concrete, aggregate, and asphalt. They oversee day-to-day lab operations, ensure testing equipment is calibrated, manage certifications, perform laboratory testing, and lead a team of field technicians to maintain quality control for infrastructure and building projects.

Key Responsibilities:

· Material Testing: Conduct and supervise standard tests including proctors, sieves, Atterberg Limits, and concrete compression.

· Team Leadership: Train, schedule, and supervise laboratory and field technicians.

· Quality & Compliance: Maintain laboratory accreditations (e.g., AASHTO, AMRL) and ensure all tests comply with ASTM and project specifications.

· Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate testing machinery, record data, and manage the purchasing of new laboratory equipment when necessary.

· Reporting: Communicate test results clearly with project managers, engineers, and contractors.

Key Requirements:

· Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in a CMT lab, usually focusing on soils, concrete, and aggregates.

· Certifications: Industry-standard certifications are often required, such as NICET, MARTCP, and ACI.

· Physical & Technical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 30 lbs) and strong mathematical and data-entry skills for reporting.

Requirements:

· Must have a GREAT ATTITUDE and LOVE working in a fast-paced industry.

· The laboratory position generally has a set schedule of 7am to 4pm. At the same time, the job does not get routine or boring as it provides a lot of variability in different tests and types of projects.

· Valid driver's license

· Entry level employees with an interest in construction testing are encouraged to apply to our Materials Testing Technician. All training is provided.
