Overview
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Project Architect to join their New York City office. This role is ideal for a design-driven professional with strong technical expertise and a proven track record in healthcare and/or laboratory projects. The successful candidate will lead project teams through all phases of design and construction, ensuring excellence in execution and innovation in design.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural projects from concept through completion, applying deep technical knowledge and creative problem-solving across complex healthcare and laboratory environments.
  • Manage and mentor multidisciplinary teams, coordinating internal efforts and external consultants to deliver high-quality, timely results.
  • Review and approve code compliance, material selections, and technical specifications to ensure project integrity and regulatory adherence.
  • Oversee the production of construction documents and maintain the accuracy and coordination of the BIM model throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and consultants, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to monitor progress against workplans, proactively suggesting adjustments to scope, staffing, or timelines as needed.
  • Ensure efficient and technically sound execution of project deliverables, maintaining a focus on quality and feasibility.
  • Advocate for design excellence and encourage innovation and creativity within the team and among project partners.
  • Promote best practices in documentation and risk mitigation, mentoring junior staff and setting clear expectations for accountability and performance.

Qualifications

  • Based in or willing to relocate to New York City, with the ability to work in-office at least three days per week.
  • Professional degree in Architecture (Bachelor's or Master's).
  • Architectural licensure or active pursuit of licensure is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in an architectural firm, with a strong portfolio of healthcare and/or laboratory projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership in design, documentation, and construction administration.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and independent judgment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp, Rhino, and 3ds Max.
