Instrumentation & Control Engineer (Mid - Senior)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and specification of instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA architectures for water and wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities
  • Develop control narratives, P&IDs, I/O lists, network diagrams, and functional descriptions
  • Assist with PLC, HMI, and SCADA system configuration and testing
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and control system contractor documentation
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers throughout project delivery
  • Participate in system integration, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning activities
  • Provide technical support during construction and start-up phases
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices
  • Contribute to project schedules, budgets, and technical reports as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in instrumentation and controls design for water, wastewater, or related industrial facilities
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, and industrial networking
  • Familiarity with field instrumentation including flow, level, pressure, and analytical devices
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, control drawings, and electrical schematics
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team-based consulting environment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in an engineering consulting or professional services setting
  • Exposure to system integration, commissioning, and start-up support
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity considerations in industrial control systems
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure
