Job Summary
Our client, a leading electrical contractor in the Richmond area, is seeking a highly skilled Preconstruction Electrical Estimator to support their growing portfolio of commercial and industrial projects. This role is critical in the early stages of project development, focusing on accurate cost forecasting, scope definition, and bid preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive preconstruction estimates.
- Collaborate with design teams, engineers, and project stakeholders to define scope and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and input data into estimating software.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and complete bids.
- Develop and present detailed cost breakdowns, value engineering options, and risk assessments.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and strategy sessions with internal teams and clients.
- Provide technical and pricing input during the design and budgeting phases.
- Support the transition from preconstruction to project execution by briefing project managers on scope, pricing, and vendor selections.
- Ensure all preconstruction documentation is completed accurately and on time.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator, preferably with a focus on preconstruction.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and estimating practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Virginia building codes and local market conditions is a plus.
