Senior Project Manager - Land Surveying (PLS)

A growing, multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Land Surveying to lead and manage a local survey team in the Greater New Haven area. This individual will play a key role in overseeing survey operations, managing staff, ensuring project quality, and driving business development efforts. The position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative and technology-driven environment while leading a variety of surveying projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of multiple surveying projects.
- Develop project strategies, schedules, and methodologies to meet client objectives.
- Prepare project data for field operations and coordinate field crew assignments.
- Review, process, adjust, and perform quality control checks on survey data.
- Oversee the preparation of survey plans, reports, legal descriptions, and CAD deliverables.
- Perform and review complex survey analyses and ensure accuracy of project deliverables.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, progress reports, and invoicing.
- Train, mentor, supervise, and support the development of survey staff.
- Implement and promote new surveying technologies, software, and workflows.
- Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships while pursuing new business opportunities.
- Prepare proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and project budgets.
- Manage multiple projects with varying deadlines and priorities.
- Participate in client, stakeholder, and regulatory meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of land surveying experience, including both field and office responsibilities.
- Professional Surveyor license (or ability to obtain licensure in Connecticut).
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, or similar survey software.
- Experience preparing proposals, fee estimates, and project scopes.
- Demonstrated expertise in boundary analysis and survey quality control processes.
- Proven project management experience including budgeting, scheduling, and staff leadership.
- Experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects and managing client relationships.
- Ability to operate and understand modern survey equipment, including GPS, total stations, laser scanners, and data collectors.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
