Project Engineer - Civil Inspection
Our client is seeking a Project Engineer to join a growing Civil Inspection team in Denver, Colorado. This role focuses on the evaluation, assessment, rehabilitation, and repair of existing civil infrastructure, including grading systems, drainage facilities, pavements, utilities, and roadways.
This position offers a unique blend of field inspections and office-based engineering work. The successful candidate will perform site investigations, evaluate existing conditions, prepare technical reports, develop repair recommendations, and support rehabilitation projects from initial assessment through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and condition assessments of existing civil infrastructure.
- Evaluate grading, drainage systems, pavements, utilities, and roadway networks to identify deficiencies and repair needs.
- Perform field investigations and document site conditions through photographs, notes, measurements, and testing data.
- Coordinate and review non-destructive testing efforts, including CCTV inspections, ground penetrating radar (GPR), infiltration testing, and other investigative methods.
- Analyze findings and develop practical, cost-effective repair and rehabilitation recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering exhibits, repair plans, and construction documents.
- Support project delivery through construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFI responses, and site observations.
- Collaborate with municipalities, property owners, contractors, architects, and project stakeholders.
- Assist with project management activities, including scheduling, coordination, and client communication.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical excellence within the team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum 4 years of progressive civil engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of civil site design, construction practices, and applicable engineering standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform both field and office-based work.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with civil inspections, infrastructure assessments, or rehabilitation projects.
- Familiarity with stormwater systems, pavement evaluation, utility infrastructure, and roadway facilities.
- Experience preparing technical reports and restoration or repair recommendations.
- Knowledge of construction administration and field observation practices.
- Experience with Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of non-destructive testing and field investigation techniques.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Interest in client interaction and long-term professional growth.
