A well‑established heavy civil contractor in the Denver metro area is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to support a diverse portfolio of infrastructure work. This role combines both project management and estimating responsibilities across transportation, water/wastewater, and general civil construction.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate has a strong background in heavy civil construction, with hands‑on experience in estimating and managing projects such as DOT highways, bridges, excavation, underground utilities, and water/wastewater treatment plants. You will play a key role in both acquiring work and delivering high‑quality projects safely, efficiently, and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project management activities from award to closeout
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, takeoffs, and competitive bids
- Manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and project documentation
- Work closely with owners, engineers, and internal field teams
- Support preconstruction planning, procurement, and risk assessment
- Oversee construction quality, safety, and regulatory compliance
- Build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and partners
- Coordinate with DOT/municipal agencies on infrastructure work
Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction
- Proven project management and/or estimating experience in:
- DOT highways & roadways
- Bridges & structures
- Excavation & earthwork
- Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
- Water & wastewater treatment plant projects
- Strong understanding of CDOT processes, specs, and bidding
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency with estimating and construction management software
