Project Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Earthwork Project Manager to oversee large‑scale mass earthmoving projects in the Sacramento/Lodi area of Northern California. This role is ideal for a results‑driven professional with a strong background in heavy civil operations and a commitment to delivering safe, high‑quality, and cost‑effective projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution for mass earthmoving and heavy civil projects.
  • Manage subcontractors, equipment, crews, and field operations to maintain efficient jobsite performance.
  • Review and interpret engineering plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and grading requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with owners, engineers, inspectors, and internal teams to maintain clear communication and resolve challenges proactively.
  • Monitor project progress, perform cost tracking, and prepare regular reports on schedule and performance.
  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork on all sites.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager overseeing mass earthmoving projects.
  • Experience in one or more of the following project types:
    • Site work
    • Underground utilities
    • Dams
    • Levees
    • Roads
    • Highways
    • Landfills
  • Strong understanding of grading, cut/fill operations, GPS machine control, equipment productivity, and heavy civil construction techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multi‑disciplinary field teams.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and earthwork takeoff tools is a plus.
