Quality Control Specialist - Mechanical (Travelling Role - U.S. Based Projects)

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quality Control Specialist - Mechanical to join our growing team. This is a travel-based role supporting construction projects across the United States, offering a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for professionals who are passionate about quality assurance and mechanical systems in the field.

As a Quality Control Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all mechanical and structural work meets the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance. You will be responsible for overseeing quality control processes on-site, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring adherence to industry codes and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately read and interpret mechanical, structural, and isometric drawings to guide field operations and inspections.
  • Lead and execute quality control activities on active construction sites, with a focus on welding, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality management systems and mechanical codes, including ASME, AWS, and AWWA standards.
  • Apply hands-on technical expertise in:
    • Welding (pipe and structural)
    • Pressure testing (pneumatic and hydrostatic)
    • Coating (paint, plating)
    • Torquing (bolts, flanges, valves)
  • Conduct and document inspections, material testing, and QA/QC processes related to non-destructive examination (NDE), insulation, and ducting.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues and maintain project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports for audits, compliance checks, and internal reviews.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of field experience in a quality control or mechanical inspection role within the construction or industrial sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical codes, quality standards, and inspection protocols.
  • Proven ability to manage quality documentation and ensure compliance in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the U.S. to support project needs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
