The Team & Role

You'll join a small, tight-knit team in New Haven and reporting into senior leadership. This is a hands-on technical and client-facing role with significant autonomy and impact.

What you'll lead and manage:

  • Preparation of technical reports, specifications, construction plans, and geotechnical recommendations.

  • Client interaction, proposal development, project coordination, and billing oversight.

  • Mentorship and coaching for junior staff.

  • Expansion of services with existing clients and potential development of new ones.

  • Support of excavation designs, including PLAXIS 3D analysis.

  • Field responsibilities such as logging borings and construction observation.

  • Managing multiple projects, budgets, schedules, and deadlines.

What They're Looking For

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Master's in Geotechnical Engineering (with a Civil Engineering bachelor's).

  • PE licensure.

  • 10+ years of geotechnical experience across investigation, design, and construction oversight.

  • Strong background in:

    • Foundations (shallow, pile, supportive excavation systems)

    • Retaining walls, pavements, roadway and drainage systems

    • Supportive excavation systems, tiebacks, bedrock blasting

    • Ground improvement, micropiles, deep foundations

  • Experience with earthwork, pile construction, load testing, subgrade inspection, and excavation support systems.

  • Software familiarity with gINT, Slide/SLOPE/W, PLAXIS, LPILE, GRLWEAP, MSEW, SHAKE.

  • Excellent communication, analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Reliable transportation for client meetings and site visits.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $110k-$170k

Candidates with business development experience or the ability to bring clients may be considered at the top end of the range.
