The Team & Role
You'll join a small, tight-knit team in New Haven and reporting into senior leadership. This is a hands-on technical and client-facing role with significant autonomy and impact.
What you'll lead and manage:
Preparation of technical reports, specifications, construction plans, and geotechnical recommendations.
Client interaction, proposal development, project coordination, and billing oversight.
Mentorship and coaching for junior staff.
Expansion of services with existing clients and potential development of new ones.
Support of excavation designs, including PLAXIS 3D analysis.
Field responsibilities such as logging borings and construction observation.
Managing multiple projects, budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
What They're Looking For
Ideal candidates will bring:
Master's in Geotechnical Engineering (with a Civil Engineering bachelor's).
PE licensure.
10+ years of geotechnical experience across investigation, design, and construction oversight.
Strong background in:
Foundations (shallow, pile, supportive excavation systems)
Retaining walls, pavements, roadway and drainage systems
Supportive excavation systems, tiebacks, bedrock blasting
Ground improvement, micropiles, deep foundations
Experience with earthwork, pile construction, load testing, subgrade inspection, and excavation support systems.
Software familiarity with gINT, Slide/SLOPE/W, PLAXIS, LPILE, GRLWEAP, MSEW, SHAKE.
Excellent communication, analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Reliable transportation for client meetings and site visits.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $110k-$170k
Candidates with business development experience or the ability to bring clients may be considered at the top end of the range.
