Senior Project Scheduling Engineer

Position Summary:

The Senior Scheduling Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules across various market segments, while reporting on key variances and performance indicators.

Key Responsibilities:

Schedule Development

  • Create proposal and pre-construction schedules.
  • Participate in project kickoff and startup meetings.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop execution plans and baseline schedules, including necessary documentation for approvals.
  • Ensure scheduling practices align with contract requirements and internal policies.
  • Lead planning meetings and workshops to gather input for schedule development.
  • Integrate resource data into schedule activities, linking back to project estimates and performing resource leveling analysis.

Project Schedule Updates & Analysis:

  • Gather and input status updates from project stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits to verify reported progress.
  • Analyze changes to the critical path and other significant schedule variances; recommend optimization strategies.
  • Forecast future performance using historical data and current trends.
  • Identify potential schedule risks and communicate findings to project leadership.
  • Generate reports that support both client and internal needs, connecting schedule data to overall project performance.
  • Develop contingency plans and document changes to support claims avoidance.
  • Participate in regular schedule reviews with project and financial teams.

Project Controls Tools:

  • Create and maintain 4D models for select projects and proposals.
  • Conduct productivity and production analyses to support project planning.

Internal Capability Building:

  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship in scheduling practices.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases with self-help resources and FAQs.
  • Support other projects by reviewing and refining resource loading.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, with 1-3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with construction logistics, techniques, materials, equipment, crew sizing, and sequencing is preferred.
  • Experience across multiple construction sectors (e.g., healthcare, automotive, civil, industrial, sports facilities) is a plus.
  • Basic proficiency in scheduling software, especially Primavera P6, is preferred.
