The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to lead SCADA and control‑systems engineering across major power, infrastructure, and energy‑transition projects. You will be involved from early‑stage concept design through commissioning and operational support-acting as a trusted technical leader across multidisciplinary teams.


Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Development

  • Develop SCADA functional design specifications, configuration requirements, and interface documents for use in project concept, feasibility, and detailed design stages.
  • Produce and review technical specifications, bill of materials, drawings, and design packages to ensure compliance with Australian and international standards.
  • Lead Safety‑in‑Design assessments and constructability reviews for SCADA and control‑system scopes.

Project Delivery & Engineering Leadership

  • Manage end‑to‑end SCADA engineering delivery, contributing to project development, tendering, procurement support, and contractor engagement.
  • Provide technical guidance during construction phases, ensuring alignment with project requirements and engineering best practices.
  • Oversee SCADA and controls project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and risk management activities.

Technical Implementation

  • Undertake PLC and RTU programming, SCADA configuration, communication network design, device programming, and database integration.
  • Support commissioning activities including FAT/SAT, integration testing, compliance verification, and operational readiness.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of SCADA, network, and protection systems.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience designing and implementing SCADA and control systems for HV electrical assets.
  • Strong understanding of HV transmission and distribution networks, substation automation, protection systems, and relevant industry standards.
  • Proven capability in developing and managing technical documentation for SCADA, networking, process control, and data‑exchange systems.
  • Familiarity with technical codes, regulations, and standards for renewable‑energy and grid‑connected assets in Australia.
  • Advanced programming skills across PLCs/RTUs and experience configuring SCADA software, communication devices, and associated databases.
  • Strong understanding of industrial protocols including DNP3, Modbus, TCP/IP and related communications.
  • Professional accreditation (Engineers Australia, RPEQ, RPEV) highly regarded.
  • Strong technical report‑writing skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
