Substation Estimator

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join their Substation Services division. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will play a critical role in preparing accurate and comprehensive bid submissions by analyzing blueprints, specifications, quotes, and other documentation. This position is ideal for someone with strong estimating experience in the electric utility industry who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimating Execution & Bid Preparation:

    • Review contract documents to understand requirements, risks, and pricing impacts.
    • Perform material take-offs and obtain vendor/subcontractor quotes.
    • Evaluate quotes for completeness and best pricing.
    • Participate in estimate review processes and prepare customer deliverables.
  • Bid Administration & Documentation Management:

    • Coordinate with Estimating Project Administrator for document uploads and RFIs.
    • Distribute qualification documents and prepare award documentation.
    • Ensure thorough pre-construction planning and document distribution.
  • Contract & Scope Review:

    • Review purchase orders, subcontracts, and contracts for accuracy.
    • Identify milestones, liquidated damages, and potential change orders.
    • Facilitate scope review with PM team to align assumptions with execution.
  • Project Handoff & Collaboration:

    • Assist construction personnel at project startup to communicate cost estimate basis.
    • Attend pre-construction meetings and relay insights to PM team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electric construction industry performing cost estimates.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Accubid Estimating Software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project and/or Primavera is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Local to Pennsylvania preferred; occasional travel required.
