Superintendent (Rail)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Rail Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage field operations for major rail infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in rail construction and direct experience working with NYCT (New York City Transit)/NYCTA (New York City Transit Authority), or LIRR (Long Island Rail Road). This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily construction activities on rail infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to maintain project schedules and budgets.
- Monitor work progress and prepare daily reports on labor, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Lead safety meetings and enforce site safety protocols.
- Resolve field issues and provide technical guidance to crews.
- Interface with client representatives, inspectors, and regulatory agencies.
- Support project closeout activities including punch lists and final inspections.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in rail construction, with at least 2 years of direct experience with NYCT, NYCTA, or LIRR projects.
- Strong knowledge of rail systems, track construction, signals, and civil infrastructure.
- Proven ability to manage field crews and subcontractors effectively.
- Excellent understanding of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience with union labor coordination
- Familiarity with MTA procedures and documentation standards
