Technical Services Manager
The Technical Services Manager is responsible for reviewing incoming electrical and mechanical design packages, validating technical requirements, and converting them into accurate, production‑ready documentation. This role acts as a key liaison between engineering, production, quality, and customers-ensuring technical accuracy, smooth execution, and successful project outcomes.
Core Responsibilities - Technical Services
- Oversee all technical documentation and manufacturing engineering support for electrical panels and modular assemblies.
- Lead detailed drawing reviews, BOM validation, and development of fabrication/assembly instructions.
- Establish and maintain documentation standards, traveler routes, and quality checkpoints.
- Partner with Production, Quality, and Project Management to ensure accurate, timely builds.
- Mentor technicians and junior engineering staff on documentation and fabrication practices.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions for technical production issues.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and skill development of future technical services personnel.
Core Responsibilities - Project Management
Under Operations Leadership, manage day‑to‑day execution of assigned projects ranging from ~$50K to $5M+, ensuring alignment on schedule, scope, and financial performance.
- Review, interpret, and validate drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Ensure the project team clearly understands contractual obligations.
- Assist in standardizing project documentation (RFIs, submittals, transmittals, change requests, project plans, status updates).
- Develop and maintain internal and customer schedules.
- Track progress, identify risks, document deviations, and manage required changes.
- Manage purchasing activities and subcontractor coordination.
- Prepare cost estimates for scope changes and negotiate approved change orders.
- Develop project cash‑flow plans and manage A/R collections.
- Provide timely updates on budgets, forecasts, scope, and schedule changes.
- Serve as primary customer interface throughout project execution.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Occasional travel (up to 5%) for pre‑bid and client engagements.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (BSEE preferred).
- Associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.
- PE or PMP preferred but not required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Effective leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Ability to interpret complex electrical drawings and specifications.
- Team‑oriented with adaptability to evolving processes.
- Background in electrical utility protection, control systems, or related technical fields.
- 5-7+ years of experience in electric utilities, panel manufacturing, project execution, technical services, or quality roles.
