Traffic Engineer Technical Lead
Location: Flexible within Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas. Hybrid and remote arrangements may be considered.
Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (20-30 hours per week)
A respected employee-owned engineering consulting firm is seeking a Traffic Engineer Technical Lead to provide technical leadership, quality oversight, and strategic direction for traffic engineering and transportation projects across its service area.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee traffic engineering and transportation planning projects.
- Manage and review traffic impact studies, traffic operations analyses, signal warrant studies, and corridor evaluations.
- Oversee preparation of traffic signal designs, signing and pavement marking plans, and maintenance of traffic plans.
- Mentor engineering staff and serve as a technical resource.
- Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and QA/QC efforts.
- Participate in proposals, client presentations, business development, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with FHWA guidance, MUTCD standards, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 15+ years of traffic engineering and transportation experience.
- Strong knowledge of traffic operations, traffic safety, signal systems, and transportation planning.
- Experience managing traffic impact studies, signal improvements, and transportation projects.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel as needed for client and office meetings.
- PE license and/or PTOE certification preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $130,000 - $160,000, depending on experience and certifications.
