Traffic Engineer Technical Lead

Location: Flexible within Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas. Hybrid and remote arrangements may be considered.

Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (20-30 hours per week)

A respected employee-owned engineering consulting firm is seeking a Traffic Engineer Technical Lead to provide technical leadership, quality oversight, and strategic direction for traffic engineering and transportation projects across its service area.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee traffic engineering and transportation planning projects.
Manage and review traffic impact studies, traffic operations analyses, signal warrant studies, and corridor evaluations.
Oversee preparation of traffic signal designs, signing and pavement marking plans, and maintenance of traffic plans.
Mentor engineering staff and serve as a technical resource.
Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and QA/QC efforts.
Participate in proposals, client presentations, business development, and strategic growth initiatives.
Ensure compliance with FHWA guidance, MUTCD standards, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
15+ years of traffic engineering and transportation experience.
Strong knowledge of traffic operations, traffic safety, signal systems, and transportation planning.
Experience managing traffic impact studies, signal improvements, and transportation projects.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to travel as needed for client and office meetings.
PE license and/or PTOE certification preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $130,000 - $160,000, depending on experience and certifications.
