Transportation Engineer
Position Overview
My client, a highly respected regional employee-owned consulting firm, is seeking a experienced Transportation Engineer to support and lead roadway and highway design projects across Montana. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and mission-driven team working on impactful infrastructure projects that serve communities throughout the state.
This position offers remote flexibility, with a strong preference for candidates open to a hybrid work arrangement from one of the firm's Montana offices, including Bozeman, Helena, Billings, and others. Candidates must reside within Montana or be open to relocation to the state.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the design and development of roadway and highway projects in accordance with MDT and AASHTO standards.
- Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior engineering staff.
- Support project management activities including budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation engineering, with a focus on roadway/highway design.
- Montana PE license or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
- Familiarity with Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) standards and procedures is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in design software such as Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Residency in Montana or willingness to relocate is required.
