Waterfront Structural Engineer/Manager

We are seeking an established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Waterfront & Marine Engineerr with 6+ years of experience in the assessment and design of waterfront and marine structures. The role involves leading complex projects across a variety of coastal and marine infrastructure, including marinas, ports and terminals, recreational and commercial piers, bulkheads, seawalls, coastal revetments, and coastal resiliency initiatives.

The successful candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer with strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and experience delivering full project lifecycles from inspections and concept development through design, permitting, construction documents, and stakeholder engagement. A passion for addressing evolving coastal challenges and advancing resilient coastal infrastructure is highly valued.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design, permitting, and implementation for multidisciplinary waterfront and marine projects.
  • Conduct and oversee inspections and condition assessments of marine facilities; direct work performed by engineers, technicians, administrative staff, and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with project and division leadership to develop scopes of work, staffing plans, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare and/or review proposals, grant applications, schedules, budgets, and project progress reports.
  • Attend client meetings, interviews, and community engagement events, with opportunities to present project concepts and findings.
  • Maintain strong client communication and coordination throughout each project's duration.
  • Assist with contract negotiations and contribute to strategic business development efforts.
  • Represent the firm at professional events and within relevant industry organizations.
  • Mentor junior staff and help cultivate team capabilities.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) required; additional certifications (e.g., WEDG) are a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; a master's degree is preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience with deep knowledge of geo-structural and coastal engineering design; commitment to ongoing professional learning.
  • Proficiency with engineering and analysis software such as AutoCAD, CEDAS, STWave, SLOPE/W, L-Pile, and GIS tools preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking ability, and a proactive, professional work style.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff management, project management, and client development.
  • Active participation or leadership roles in professional or community organizations is desirable.
  • Commitment to a client-service mindset and enthusiasm for mentoring emerging engineers.
