Project Manager - Energy Storage
Our client is a leading provider of utility-scale energy storage solutions and is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the successful execution of battery energy storage projects across North America. This individual will be responsible for overseeing projects from contract award through commissioning and handoff, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. The Project Manager will work closely with internal teams, customers, and subcontractors to drive project success while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution and delivery of utility-scale battery energy storage (BESS) projects throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and finance.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and execution plans.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and key stakeholders, providing regular project updates and managing expectations.
- Identify and mitigate project risks while driving solutions to maintain schedule and budget objectives.
- Monitor project financial performance, including cost control, forecasting, and overall profitability.
- Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of project management best practices.
- Ensure all contractual obligations, project milestones, and deliverables are achieved.
- Oversee project closeout activities and coordinate the transition to long-term operations and service teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of project management experience within renewable energy, power generation, energy storage, electrical infrastructure, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, and financial performance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Experience working within large, matrixed organizations is preferred.
- PMP certification is a plus.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience is beneficial.
Travel Requirements:
- Approximately 25-30% travel throughout North America based on project needs.
