Their Melbourne‑based team is expanding rapidly to support a growing pipeline of utility‑scale renewable projects across Australia

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Grid Connection Manager to lead all aspects of grid compliance, modelling, and connection approvals for major renewable energy projects across Australia. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who understands the complexities of NEM requirements, generator performance standards (GPS), and the full connection lifecycle. You will be the key liaison between project teams, AEMO, NSPs, and internal engineering groups-ensuring timely, compliant, and commercially viable project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end‑to‑end grid connection process for utility‑scale solar, storage, and hybrid projects.
  • Manage submission, negotiation, and approval of Generator Performance Standards (GPS).
  • Develop and review PSCAD and PSS/E models, ensuring alignment with AEMO and network service provider requirements.
  • Coordinate responses to AEMO and NSP queries, technical issues, study reviews, and modelling refinements.
  • Support product compliance and certification for inverter and storage solutions within the NEM.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, sales, and product teams to ensure grid‑ready designs and solutions.
  • Monitor changes in regulations, standards, and guidelines relevant to grid connection and power system modelling.
  • Represent the company in technical forums, working groups, and industry discussions where required.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related discipline.
  • Strong experience with NEM grid connection processes for large‑scale renewable energy projects.
  • Proficiency in PSCAD, PSS/E, and related power systems modelling tools.
  • In‑depth understanding of inverter‑based resources (IBR), renewable generator compliance, and grid stability principles.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with AEMO and NSPs throughout connection studies and approvals.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across technical and commercial teams.
