Their public infrastructure work includes mass earthwork, bridgework, underground utilities, aggregate base, pavement removals, asphalt pavement milling, structural concrete, shoring, large diameter sewer, runway and taxiway rehabilitation, and major DOT-related roadway work.

Position Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway/Roadway Superintendent to lead field operations on roadway, highway, bridge-adjacent, utility, and public infrastructure projects.

This role is best suited for a field leader who understands large civil projects, can manage crews and equipment effectively, and is comfortable overseeing work involving grading, drainage, utilities, roadway construction, pavement removals, aggregate base, paving coordination, and related heavy civil scopes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day field operations on heavy highway and public infrastructure projects
  • Plan and coordinate crews, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and site logistics
  • Oversee grading, drainage, utility, roadway, earthwork, bridge-related, and pavement scopes
  • Review plans, specifications, schedules, and project requirements ahead of work being performed
  • Work closely with project managers, inspectors, engineers, owners, subcontractors, and field teams
  • Track production, manpower, equipment usage, quantities, and daily progress
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, time sheets, field documentation, and jobsite updates
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices are followed on site
  • Coordinate material deliveries, inspections, traffic control, and equipment needs
  • Identify field issues early and help resolve challenges before they impact schedule or cost
  • Support quality control and ensure work is completed to project standards
  • Keep projects moving safely, efficiently, and in line with schedule expectations

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent, Foreman, or senior field leader in heavy highway or heavy civil construction
  • Strong background in roadway construction, grading, drainage, earthwork, utilities, and public infrastructure work
  • Experience with DOT, municipal, airport, or public works projects preferred
  • Comfortable managing self-perform crews, subcontractors, equipment, and multiple work fronts
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, and project documents
  • Strong understanding of production planning, sequencing, safety, and quality control
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to work well with field teams, office staff, inspectors, and owners
  • Organized, proactive, and able to adapt to changing field conditions
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
