About the Opportunity
An established electric utility is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Compliance Specialist to support the organization's reliability, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance programs. This individual will work across Operations, SCADA, Information Technology, and Compliance teams to help ensure adherence to critical infrastructure protection requirements within both Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in NERC CIP compliance, cybersecurity compliance, system administration, network administration, OT security, or utility regulatory programs who is looking to broaden their impact in a highly visible role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support compliance with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards across OT and IT environments.
- Review and validate compliance evidence, documentation, and technical records.
- Analyze reporting from SCADA, EMS, cybersecurity, and infrastructure systems.
- Verify patch management, configuration management, baseline documentation, and change management activities.
- Review system diagrams, network documentation, and asset inventories.
- Support vulnerability management, account administration, system hardening, and audit readiness efforts.
- Assist with compliance reporting, mitigation plans, self-reports, and internal assessments.
- Partner with technical subject matter experts across operations, cybersecurity, engineering, and IT teams.
- Prepare for and support regulatory audits and compliance reviews.
- Participate in industry working groups and stay current on regulatory developments.
Desired Background
- Experience supporting NERC CIP compliance programs or critical infrastructure cybersecurity initiatives.
- Knowledge of OT environments, including SCADA, EMS, industrial control systems, or utility operations.
- Experience with compliance audits, evidence collection, internal controls, or regulatory reporting.
- Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks, vulnerability management, system administration, or network administration.
- Ability to interpret technical requirements and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the electric utility, energy, or critical infrastructure sector.
- Familiarity with NERC, Regional Entity, or reliability compliance programs.
- Experience supporting audit preparation, mitigation plans, or corrective action programs.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity controls within industrial or operational environments.
